A rare, opaque, blue-to-green mineral known for its use as a gemstone, Turquoise is a hydrated phosphate of copper and aluminum, with the chemical formula CuAl6(PO4)4(OH)8·4H2O. Formed in arid and semi-arid environments, it’s often found in weathered or oxidized zones of copper deposits where groundwater, rich in copper and aluminum, reacts with phosphates.
Turquoise is found in several locations globally:

- China: Important deposits, particularly in Xinjiang province.
- Iran: Known for producing high-quality turquoise, especially from the Nishapur area.
- Other Locations: Chile, Egypt, Mexico, and parts of Russia also have turquoise deposits.
